Technical Officer (Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization)

Overview

The Technical Officer (Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization) will support WHO's goal to promote health and well-being by assisting governments in controlling and eliminating vaccine-preventable diseases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to governments and national stakeholders on immunization strategies, policies, and work programmes.
• Monitor the national burden of vaccine-preventable diseases through health information systems and research.
• Support Ministries of Health in planning and organizing national and subnational vaccination campaigns.
• Implement activities recommended by the Sub-regional Verification Committee for Measles and Rubella Elimination.
• Contribute to the development, monitoring, and evaluation of work plans and budget implementation.
• Coordinate the adaptation and implementation of evidence-based norms, standards, guidelines, and tools.
• Provide technical input for the development of information, education, and communication materials.

Required Experience

• At least two years of working experience in supporting the development and/or implementation of public health, capacity building policies/strategies, and programmes in the area of Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization at national level.
• Professional experience providing technical services to Member States and other partners in relevant public health programmes in resource limited settings.
• Desirable: Experience working in immunization service delivery and disease surveillance, and analyze life course data.
• Relevant work experience, with WHO and/or United Nations agencies, health cluster partners, non-governmental or humanitarian organizations.

Qualifications

• University degree in medicine, nursing, public health, or other related sciences.
• Desirable: Training or specialization in immunization, vaccine preventable diseases, surveillance or related field.
