Technical Officer (Immunization)
Overview
The Technical Officer (Immunization) role focuses on expanding immunization scope, maximizing vaccine benefits, and accelerating the control and elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases in Yemen.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with national counterparts and stakeholders for the development of the Expanded Programme on Immunization plan in Yemen.
- Assist Member States in strengthening the evaluation and monitoring of immunization activities.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Health counterparts or other health-related interlocutors in the country for the planning and organization of vaccination campaigns.
- Monitor the implementation of planned activities and ensure the availability of potent vaccines as well as the required equipment and injection materials.
- Compile and share information on the impact of newly introduced vaccines in the national immunization schedule and submit project proposals for the extension of existing health-care networks and strengthening of existing systems.
- Support research in vaccines, including the coordination of clinical trials of new vaccines of relevance to the country.
- Participate in training and capacity building of national vaccinators in the area of Immunization and Vaccine.
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of guidelines for evaluation of the impact of newly introduced vaccines in the national immunization schedule of the Member State.
- Work with Member States to transition WHO-supported vaccine preventable disease surveillance sites/systems to government-supported institutions.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
At least five years' of progressively international exposure in the field of immunization and vaccine development programmes. Demonstrated international exposure evaluating vaccine preventable diseases and immunization programmes. Firsthand working experience in a developing nation.
Qualifications
First level university degree in a Health-related science (medicine or public health) or human biology with specialization on immunization, or vaccine relevant areas. Advanced university degree in a Health-related science.
