Data Analyst
Overview
The Data Analyst will support the implementation of the Social Territories Program by developing, calculating, and validating data and information products, and extracting, processing, and analyzing data from public databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calculate and validate variables, indicators, and other data and information products.
- Extract, process and analyse data from public databases and statistics and present them in various formats.
- Elaborate and/or support the creation of georeferenced information.
- Revise all documents produced related to spatial data and information.
- Participate and organize capacity building activities for UN-Habitat and government staff.
- Provide appropriate technical support to implement activities related to collection, production, analysis and management of data, information and urban indicators.
- Provide information for the systematization and exchange of successful practices and experiences.
- Provide inputs for the identification of project risks.
- Document project processes, methodologies, and outputs.
- Ensure timely implementation of deliverables according to the work plan.
- Participate in meetings, missions, and events as required.
- Provide technical guidance on the localization of international frameworks.
- Maintain organized records of project activities, risks, and key documentation.
- Develop and disseminate knowledge products.
- Organize project events, workshops, and training activities.
- Ensure compliance with UN-Habitat quality standards and project requirements.
- Develop reports following ABNT guidelines.
- Ensure the adoption of ethical principles in the course of the consultancy.
- Perform any other management-related duties assigned by the Head of Brazil Office.
Required Experience
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in themes related to data analysis, reports and information for public policy, data visualization, data collection, processing and analysis is required. Progressively responsible experience in urban project/programmes related themes in Brazil is required. Previous experience within the UN System is desirable. Experience in the management of primary data collection in the field is desirable. Good command of data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox or ODK is desirable. Basic experience with platforms for sharing programming and version control such as GitHub or GitLab is desirable. Good knowledge on project management methodologies is desirable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Administration, Geography, Economics, Urban Studies, Statistics or related fields is required. Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Administration, Geography, Economics, Urban Studies, Statistics or related fields, or an additional four (4) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
