Overview

The Generalist Field Officer 1 is responsible for the safe driving of vehicles for the transportation of personnel, goods, or supplies, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and established safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe transport of people and goods, in accordance with ICRC rules and regulations, as well as national traffic laws, adapting driving to terrain conditions.
• Ensure the assigned vehicle is in optimal condition, especially regarding fuel, cleanliness, communication equipment, road equipment, tools, required documentation, and more.
• Immediately report to the fleet manager in case of damage, traffic accident/incident, and traffic violations.
• Ensure vehicles under their responsibility receive preventive and corrective maintenance within established deadlines, ensuring their optimal operational status.
• Ensure timely registration and updating of vehicle information under their responsibility in the FleetWave platform, maintaining data quality and reliability.
• Support in mapping logistics providers, identifying and sharing suitable provider profiles.
• Know and apply financial rules and request required documentation from suppliers for the acquisition of goods and services.
• Support in making payments, purchases, and quotations as needed, as well as in messenger tasks.
• Organize material for all logistical aspects of field trips considering locations, interlocutors, routes, distances, and required times.
• Support in loading and unloading necessary elements and materials for field trips.
• Perform pre-operational, during, and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles, verifying their mechanical, operational, documentary, and safety status, as well as the good condition of the bodywork, equipment, and elements required for operation.
• Ensure the proper use, conservation, and readiness of assigned vehicles, ensuring their cleanliness, maintenance of tool and equipment inventories, availability of the emergency kit, and compliance with established requirements for field trips.
• Complete, accurately, and timely fill out operational records and documentation associated with vehicle management, including Log-Book, transport documentation, service reports, and other supporting documents for updating information in FleetWave and other institutional systems.
• Support monitoring the operational status of the vehicle fleet by reviewing information recorded in FleetWave and other control mechanisms, identifying and reporting promptly any issues related to maintenance, inspections, documentation, equipment, and other operational requirements.
• Support the coordination and follow-up of preventive and corrective maintenance of vehicles, verifying the execution of work performed by third parties, compliance with established quality standards, and reporting any issues to the Logistics Manager or Fleet Manager.
• Verify the correct functioning of communication equipment and other devices installed in vehicles (HF, VHF, satellite phone), applying established procedures and promptly reporting any identified failure or anomaly.
• Immediately report to the Logistics Manager and/or Fleet Manager in case of accidents, incidents, damage, technical failures, loss of equipment, or any issue affecting vehicle operation, supporting the follow-up of required actions in accordance with institutional procedures.
• Support the updating, organization, and reconciliation of physical and electronic information related to vehicle fleet management, including documentary records, inventories of spare parts, tools, equipment, and consumables, ensuring traceability and reliability of information.

Required Experience

Relevant professional experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, university degree, or relevant professional experience.
• Valid driving license (categories B, C or equivalent).
• Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics.
• Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations.
• Basic training in first aid.
