Technical Supervisor (Engineering/Architecture) – Housing Improvements

Overview

Provide quality assurance, and technical supervision and validation of housing assessments and improvement proposals developed by field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision and guidance to Field Agents.
• Review and validate technical information and housing assessments.
• Conduct quality control of field data and technical assessments.
• Review and validate proposed housing improvement interventions.
• Provide technical guidance for complex cases.
• Collaborate with the definition and application of technical criteria for prioritization and selection of interventions.
• Review preliminary housing improvement designs.
• Review and propose adjustments to technical drawings, specifications, and materials.
• Review and validate housing assessments, proposed interventions, and preliminary designs in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
• Work in close coordination with other technical disciplines.
• Provide technical approval of housing assessments, proposed interventions, and preliminary designs.
• Prepare technical reviews, recommendations, validation records, and reports.
• Contribute to the development, review, and improvement of technical guidelines.
• Monitor the technical quality and consistency of work performed by Field Agents.
• Participate in technical meetings, coordination activities, and training sessions.
• Provide inputs for the identification and mitigation of technical risks.
• Ensure assigned activities are completed within deadlines and to required standards.
• Attend meetings and conferences.
• Ensure compliance with UN-Habitat quality standards and project requirements.
• Develop reports following ABNT guidelines.
• Ensure the adoption of ethical principles.
• Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
• Complete all indicated courses and training activities.
• Comply with United Nations security mechanisms.

Required Experience

• A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in residential construction, building rehabilitation, housing improvement, technical assistance for housing, or related areas is required.
• Experience in building inspection and/or technical assessment of existing residential buildings in Brazil is required.
• Experience in architectural or engineering technical review, supervision, coordination and/or approval of housing designs, assessments, or improvement interventions is required.
• Experience in housing improvement, residential rehabilitation, and/or interventions in existing residential buildings is required.
• Experience in social housing, affordable housing, technical assistance for housing and/or projects implemented in favelas, informal settlements or vulnerable communities is desirable.
• Experience in supervising, coordinating, or providing technical guidance to field teams and/or multidisciplinary teams is desirable.
• Experience in quality assurance and quality control of technical assessments, designs, or construction-related documentation is desirable.
• Previous experience within or with the United Nations System is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or Civil Engineering.
• Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Housing, Building Rehabilitation, Social Housing, Technical Assistance for Housing, or related fields is required, or additional four (4) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
