Programme Policy Officer, Climate Resilience

Overview

Supports the design, management, and delivery of climate resilience programming, focusing on project management, technical guidance, coordination, knowledge management, and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide project monitoring and implementation support for integrated resilience activities.
• Undertake field visits and review project activity implementation.
• Design and develop proposals in the climate resilience portfolio.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on natural resources management, asset creation, regenerative agriculture, and livelihood development.
• Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities.
• Support coordination of the climate resilience portfolio across the country office, cooperating partners, and development partners.
• Represent WFP in public fora and maintain relationships with government, development partners, and other organizations.
• Ensure gender and nutrition perspectives are embedded in programming.
• Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners, and national government.
• Produce internal and external operating procedures, knowledge products, and lessons learned.

Required Experience

Five or more years of progressively responsible professional experience working in climate mitigation and adaptation, natural resources management, agriculture, international development, or other related sectors. Field experience working on food security, natural resource management and sustainable development, rural livelihoods and poverty reduction, asset creation, or climate change mitigation and adaptation programmes. Experience implementing nutrition-sensitive, gender, youth, and inclusion programming is desirable. Demonstrated experience engaging and fostering relationships with national and local governments, organizations, and communities. Proven ability to design, plan and facilitate trainings and workshops for a diverse audience. Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other standard software packages and systems. Previous work and knowledge of WFP's processes and procedures in the field of asset creation, landscape rehabilitation, and participatory development (i.e. Three-Pronged Approach), is considered an asset. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations, and procedures is considered a plus.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in climate studies, agriculture, environmental studies, natural resource management, international development, or other related disciplines. A postgraduate degree would be considered an asset.
