Overview
The Census Communication and Volunteer Coordination Associate will support the coordination and day-to-day implementation of the census communication plan and campaign, serving as a link between the Department of Statistics, UNFPA, and a network of volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the coordination and implementation of the census communication plan and campaign.
- Maintain a consolidated activity plan and calendar for census communication and outreach activities.
- Coordinate with the DoS communications team.
- Support the preparation, organization, and follow-up of communication coordination meetings.
- Assist in ensuring timely and organized dissemination of communication materials to volunteers.
- Support the coordination of the network of census communication and outreach volunteers.
- Maintain updated contact and deployment lists for volunteers.
- Facilitate the dissemination of approved communication materials, key messages, guidance, schedules, and updates to volunteers.
- Support the organization of briefings, orientation sessions, and coordination meetings for volunteers.
- Follow up with volunteers on assigned activities and consolidate their progress.
- Collect feedback, questions, challenges, and emerging communication issues from volunteers.
- Support the identification of communication gaps or areas requiring additional outreach.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of census awareness activities.
- Track planned versus completed communication and outreach activities.
- Collect and consolidate information, photographs, activity reports, and other documentation from volunteers.
- Support the preparation of regular updates on the implementation of the census communication campaign.
- Identify recurring questions, misconceptions, or concerns raised by the public and volunteers.
- Support the consistent use of plain-language census messages.
- Support the organization and maintenance of a shared repository of approved census communication materials.
- Assist in adapting approved communication content for different volunteer groups and outreach contexts.
- Support the collection and documentation of good practices, lessons learned, and examples.
- Assist in preparing presentations, briefing materials, reports, trackers, and other coordination documents.
- Facilitate effective information flow between UNFPA, DoS, volunteers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support coordination with relevant UNFPA communication and programme colleagues.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the assignment.
Required Experience
- At least two years of relevant experience in communications, outreach, project coordination, volunteer coordination, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating activities involving multiple stakeholders and/or geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience working with volunteers, community groups, field teams, or similar networks is highly desirable.
- Previous experience supporting a national campaign, census, population-related initiative, or large-scale public information campaign.
- Experience working with a government institution, the UN system, or an international development organization.
- Experience in social media, digital communications, content dissemination, or basic visual communication.
- Familiarity with data collection, activity monitoring, reporting, or digital collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge of Jordan's population and development context and/or previous experience working with the Department of Statistics would be an advantage.
- Experience coordinating large volunteer networks or field teams would be an advantage.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, social sciences, development studies, business/management, or another relevant field.
