Overview
The UN Volunteer Nurse will provide primary health care to UN personnel, focusing on clinical nursing care, patient management, and emergency preparedness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical nursing care, including administering medications, monitoring patients, and maintaining records.
- Collaborate with medical teams for integrated patient care and continuity of service.
- Coordinate patient transportation and medical report uploads.
- Provide health promotion, patient counseling, and health education.
- Supervise nursing activities, evaluate care quality, and identify learning needs of staff.
- Inspect clinical areas for cleanliness and hygiene.
- Maintain emergency preparedness, including checks of equipment and supplies.
- Dispense medications, manage stock levels, and conduct equipment checks.
- Coordinate team meetings, staff leave, and onboarding of new arrivals.
- Requisition non-medical supplies and identify repair needs.
Required Experience
At least five years of progressively responsible clinical nursing experience in a hospital providing emergency, inpatient, intensive care, or other high-acuity clinical services. Experience limited to outpatient or clinic-based nursing does not meet the minimum experience requirement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Intensive Care/Acute Care, Infection Prevention and Control. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required. Valid license to practice nursing in the home country.
