Generator Mechanic

Overview

Generator Mechanic role focused on the installation, commissioning, overhauling, and maintenance of diesel engine generators and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply engineering calculations for sizing diesel engine generators, their installation, commissioning, overhauling, and maintenance.
• Ensure smooth operation of generators in accordance with UN rules and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain different makes and models of diesel engine power generators.
• Install/replace generators, synchronize them in groups, and integrate them with solar hybrid systems.
• Evaluate spare parts stock levels and advise on requirements and surplus quantities.
• Compile generator operation data log sheets and maintain equipment records.
• Prepare presentations on generator operation, fuel consumption, and cost analysis.
• Develop generator history cards and maintain records of maintenance, overhauls, and spare parts used.
• Estimate repair costs and determine economic feasibility of maintenance.
• Assist in preparation of acquisition plans, performance reports, and budgets.

Required Experience

3 years progressively experience in the field of Diesel engines & Generators; Experience in Training/Capacity Building, Mentoring.

Qualifications

Technical/vocational diploma in Mechanical or Equivalent Engineering with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience in diesel engines.
