Overview
The National UN Volunteer Nurse will provide primary health care to personnel from participating UN entities, focusing on protecting and promoting staff health and ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend relevant meetings and take minutes.
- Monitor mailboxes and direct client requests.
- Deliver continuing medical education sessions.
- Schedule hospital and dental appointments.
- Upload patient case reports and files.
- Support the Staff Counsellor during online group counselling.
- Provide clinical nursing care, including administering medications and monitoring patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate patient transportation and security coverage.
- Provide health promotion and patient counseling.
- Coordinate and support nursing activities.
- Inspect clinical areas for cleanliness and orderliness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain emergency preparedness, including checking equipment and medications.
- Dispense and manage medications.
- Monitor stock levels of medicines and consumables.
- Conduct checks of medical equipment.
- Coordinate team meetings and team-building activities.
- Support staff leave planning.
- Prepare and submit monthly nursing reports.
- Coordinate the onboarding of new arrivals.
- Requisition non-medical clinic supplies.
- Identify and coordinate clinic repair and maintenance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
Required Experience
5 years of progressively responsible clinical nursing experience in a hospital providing emergency, inpatient, intensive care, or other high-acuity clinical services. Experience limited to outpatient or clinic-based nursing does not meet the minimum experience requirement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Intensive Care/Acute Care, Infection Prevention and Control. Valid license to practice nursing in the home country. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required.
