Overview
The International Medical Secretary (IMS) is the most senior executive medical leader in MSF International, ensuring medical priorities and ethical considerations are reflected in movement-wide discussions and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic medical leadership and ethical oversight to MSF International.
- Lead and steward collective medical-operational reflection and prioritization, strengthening coherence and collaboration.
- Lead the medical-operational mutual accountability processes.
- Lead MSF’s international medical positioning on priority issues and represent MSF externally.
Required Experience
Extensive senior leadership experience in complex international environments in medical humanitarian contexts. Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations; strong experience of influencing senior internal and external stakeholders and coordinating across decentralised structures. Significant MSF experience in MSF field operations required. Experience with Governance Bodies desired.
Qualifications
Medical doctorate essential. Postgraduate qualification in public health, global health, humanitarian medicine, health policy, management, or a related field is desirable.
