Overview
The Underwriter role focuses on leading transaction teams and underwriting guarantee transactions, with potential involvement in business origination and transaction structuring.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary transaction teams through the underwriting and approval process, including due diligence meetings and missions.
- Conduct sector and project risk assessments, including contractual risk allocation and technical/commercial viability.
- Prepare and use complex financial models to analyze financial viability or support credit analysis.
- Analyze country/sub-sovereign project risks and mitigants, and support analysis of state-owned enterprises.
- Conduct development impact analyses of investment projects.
- Develop recommendations for contract of guarantee terms and conditions, including guarantee structures and risk mitigants.
- Lead negotiation of new contracts of guarantee with prospective guarantee holders.
- Engage with clients, conduct due diligence meetings, and collaborate with partners.
- Prepare guarantee proposal documents and present them to Senior Management and the Board of Executive Directors.
- Support new business origination and client management efforts.
- Create and deliver new business origination-focused presentations.
Required Experience
At least 5 years’ relevant experience, including (i) analyzing and executing limited non-recourse project financings, commercial or public sector investments, trade finance, or other structured financial transactions, and (ii) financial analysis with a focus on complex transactions in emerging markets (including general infrastructure and energy sectors). Ideally gained with a reputable global financial institution.
Qualifications
Master’s degree (e.g., in Finance, Economics, International Business, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
